Role Overview

The Plant Director is responsible for leading end-to-end operations of CTS Group's Chennai production campus, overseeing manufacturing, quality, safety, and supply chain execution for modular data centre components. This role owns plant performance and delivery outcomes, driving operational excellence to ensure on-time, high-quality output in line with global engineering and client standards.

The Plant Director will build and lead a multi-disciplinary plant team, working closely with engineering, procurement, and project delivery functions in Chennai and across CTS Group's wider network.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead overall plant operations, including production planning, manufacturing, quality control, and dispatch for modular data centre units.
• Own plant performance targets, managing budgets, cost control, and productivity.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes, tooling, and workflows to improve throughput and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across the production campus.
• Build, lead, and develop a multi-functional plant team, including production, quality, maintenance, and warehouse staff.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, design, and procurement teams to align production schedules with project delivery timelines.
• Oversee vendor and supplier performance for raw materials, components, and subcontracted services.
• Establish and monitor plant KPIs, including on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery, quality yield, safety incidents, and cost per unit.
• Lead client and stakeholder visits to the plant, ensuring readiness and representing CTS Group professionally.
• Ensure statutory compliance related to factory operations, labour laws, and manufacturing licences.
• Drive capacity planning and scalability initiatives as production volumes grow.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is an advantage.
• 15+ years of experience in manufacturing or plant operations, including at least 5 years in a senior plant leadership role.
• Proven experience managing large-scale production facilities, ideally in modular construction, prefabrication, EPC, or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, production planning, and quality management systems.
• Experience with factory compliance, health & safety standards, and Indian labour law.
• Strong people leadership skills, with experience managing large, cross-functional plant teams.
• Familiarity with data centre, modular construction, or mission-critical infrastructure environments is preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership and clients.
